AAHS hosted a meaningful community gathering at the historic Brook Presbyterian Church, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This event continued a relationship that began in 2007, when AAHS first met with Hillburn community members in the church and in their homes—listening to their histories, gathering family artifacts, and learning about the community’s ongoing concerns.
These contributions—built on years of trust and collaboration—continue to deepen the Historic Hillburn archive and strengthen our understanding of African American and Native American histories in the region.
